There are several other galleries in the area surrounding WAM, including the Friends of Photography Gallery, that feature amazing photographs that capture moments and emotions from people all over the world. Over 320 pieces of Native American art are in this exhibition. After visiting, you should head over to the Wichita Contemporary Museum (WCM) for an exciting view of modern art and industrial artifacts. In the WCM, there is a special exhibit from the Museum of Modern Art that displays various pieces from artists like Andy Warhol and Alma Thomas. The artworks are known as “Wichita Stories”. There are several other places in Wichita that have stunning artworks, such as the David Lorenz sculpture in front of the Kansas Holocaust and Tolerance Museum.

The Legacy Center Gallery is located in the same building as WAM and features numerous exhibits that provide education about Wichita’s legacy through art. It also showcases different works by local artists. The Travois Gallery is a nonprofit organization that focuses on preserving the Native American art in the area. It is located in a ten-room house that was built in 1877 by Benjamin Franklin Sherman. Today, many different kinds of artwork are featured here including Native American work, contemporary pieces, and works by renowned artists like Andy Warhol.
