Introduction: What is a 10 10 Taxi and How Does it Work?

A 10 10 Taxi is a simply an old-fashioned, human-driven taxi that you would call and then wait outside for to arrive. The 10 with a zero in the middle always refers to the decade of your birth – so if you were born in 1992, you would call “10” and wait for a 1992 taxi. The 10 has a front license plate, and the number 10 is displayed on the roof of the Taxi.
The 10 10 Taxi is probably best known today as the convenient way to take someone to the airport, which is why it was co-created by two current and former Kansas City Chiefs, Will Shields and Jovan Belcher.
According to a 2008 report from the Government Accountability Office, there are about 30 companies across 44 states that operate 10-10 taxis. The article also points out that there are no plans for the Taxi concept to expand beyond Kansas City because the business model has not kept up with advances in technology.

10-1 Taxi Car Gets New Standardized Rates in KCMO

Kansas City’s 10-1 Taxi’s get a new standard throughout the whole city. With the intense competition of ride-sharing apps, the City Council through a vote, approved on Wednesday night to finally change all taxi rates to use a standard rate book which can be used by all other ride-sharing companies. There are no more different rates for each company, which could be confusing for customers. The new ratebook is similar to what other cities in the country and around the world have used for years. 10-1 Taxi drivers will continue to always use the 10-1 Taxi app even though they are not required to. “11-1 Taxi Car Gets New Standardized Rates in KCMO” : “10-1 Taxi Car Gets New Standardized Rates in KCMO”

10-2 Taxis Take Over the Downtown Loop on Friday Night in KCMO

In a series of 11 tweets on Twitter using the hashtag #Vote10-2, 10 2 Cab introduced a new driver movement to take over the downtown loop every Friday night in Kansas City. The reasoning behind this is to try and combat parking issues in the thriving KC downtown area. 10-2 Cab has already confirmed that they are booking drivers to be on the loop every Friday night beginning May 9th until September 1st. If a driver wishes to opt in, they may do so by contacting the company directly. A city spokeswoman says she’s not aware of any other taxi service planning to take over the loop in Kansas City.
The #Vote10-2 movement has already generated a lot of attention and has been pick up by the likes of KMBC, The Kansas City Star, and other local news outlets. 10-2 is hoping to take advantage of the recent surge in downtown parking prices. Drivers are able to purchase extra time on the loop for $100 dollars per night to make up for any lost time during a 10 2 Cab shift.

10-3 Taxi Plan Announced by Mayor of Kansas City Missouri to Address Traffic Congestion

A new plan is in the works by Mayor Sly James to fight traffic congestion in Kansas City. Starting Thursday, May 11, 2018, Mayor James announced that starting at 9pm on Thursday nights until 2am Friday morning, taxis will be the only vehicles allowed to drive on the inner loop of I-435 from Gregory Blvd. to 65th St. This will be a pilot program that will be evaluated to see if it is successful to see if there’s a need for any other changes or adjustments.
Mayor James made the announcement on Twitter, saying: “Starting May 11, 9pm-2am, taxis only on the inner loop of I-435 between Gregory and 65th.”
The plan has a few different names in place, including “The 90/94 Plan” and “Operation Safe Streets”. The plan is split into two parts. “Operation Safe Streets” will focus on the inner loop, between 60th to 65th streets. “The 90/94 Plan” will be focused on the outer loop of I-435 between Interstate 29 and Interstate 435. The plan is an effort to help combat traffic congestion in KCMO. Mayor James also said there are other things that need to be done like updating our streets and clearing up any left-over snow from the winter storms.
Kansas City has seen significant growth over the past few years and there are now more than half a million people living in the city, with that number expected to grow to over a million people by the year 2040.

What are the Benefits of Using a 10-Number Taxi?

One major benefit for using a 10-numbered taxi is that the drivers are human and provide better service than a computer or driverless vehicle. A human being has the need to provide excellent customer service, which can not be said about computers. Another huge benefit to using a 10-numbered taxi is that you are using a local company. The company is local, which means they know their customers and they know the area well. A 10-numbered taxi is less likely to have the driver go the long way because it will end up costing time and gas. This can be a huge benefit if you are traveling in a large metropolitan area where your destination may be close to several others that you need to get to.
1. The taxi cab industry has been around for over a century and has become very popular with consumers. In fact, taxi cab companies have over 150,000 vehicles on the road today with many of them being 10-numbers.
2. Most taxis are registered hail-callers, which means they could be anywhere on the street at any moment. This means that if you ever needed a ride you could call them whenever and they would be available at the time you need one.
3. If you have called a taxi from the road in the past, you may have noticed that most of the time they start at the taxi meter at a very low or reasonable rate. There are some cabs that will charge you on arrival, but not all of them do this.
