The Great Adirondack Trips to Try Before You Die
Even if you live in the city, there is a mountain to explore. The Adirondacks, the largest mountain range in upstate New York, are a place that offers beauty, peace and tranquility. In the upper elevations at places like Lake Placid and Tupper Lake are unique regions of nature that have been crafted by generations of humans. The Adirondacks are large, defined by 16 different regions, each with its own character and history. There are a number of ways to experience the beauty of the Adirondacks, from hiking and skiing to exploring the Great Camps. In winter, the mountains of the range get massive amounts of snow, earning it the title “Snowiest Place in America.” Scientists at Paul Smith’s College have determined that due to climate change and warming weather, Adirondack residents could see much more rain than snow by 2040.
