Introduction: What is I’ve Always Loved the Way They Loved?

i’ve always loved the way they loved is a video project documenting the love stories of couples in love. we want to show that loving relationships are anything but boring, and celebrate all of the joy, intimacy and sexiness they involve. we’re on a mission to de-stigmatize how couples talk about their lives with each other and share the fact that when it comes to love and sex, we’re all the same. how do we know that? because we’ve always loved the way they loved.
who are these couples in love?
they’re from all across the country. and just like you, they’re people who have found each other and feel lucky to be in a loving relationship with their soul mate. what’s different about them is that they’re willing to share part of their intimate lives on camera. they open up their homes, hearts and minds to us, so we can learn more about love and sex.
why would anyone want to share their love story?

What Makes I’ve Always Loved the Way They Loved so Different From Other Love Songs?

we started with the theory that love songs could be so much more than what they’ve become: an endless stream of romantic clich├ęs and heteronormative narratives. as a result, love songs (perhaps unintentionally) take a one-size-fits-all approach to romance. this only highlights how different real people are from one another, and how unique our love stories are. as a music video project directed by lisa devlin and produced by mark and jeanine lubin, we think it’s time to share the unique love stories that make up our lives. we want to celebrate the way everyone loves differently and set an example of what love can look like.
we chose a love story that’s a little more taboo and that challenges the standard love narratives. we chose “i’ve always loved the way they loved” because it was refreshing and unexpected, but not just because it’s so beautifully written. it challenges audiences to think twice about intimacy, monogamy, and what it means to be in love. we hope this video will inspire others to share their stories as well, whether they’re happy or sad, intimate or awkward.
