Introduction: What is a Cheesecake?

A cheesecake is a baked, usually sweetened and flavored dessert. The word “cheesecake” comes from the English word for cream, which in turn came from the Dutch word for cheese. A cheesecake is usually baked in a pan and layered with cream, mousse, or custard. Commonly, a cheesecake is also covered by a layer of sour cream, whipped cream, or ganache.
There are five basic types of cheesecakes include: New York-style cheesecake; custard-based cheesecake; gourmet or European-style rich and dense with a thin layer of crust; light and fluffy with a crumbly crust; and no-bake (or baked free-form).
The dough can be flavored in different ways to attain unique flavors. A cheesecake is often topped with fresh fruit and other sources of sweetness.
Cheesecakes can be simple or complex, as well as simple to make compared to desserts like a crème brulee or even a tiramisu.
A cheesecake may also be called: cream pie; cream cake; cake (middle-eastern countries); liqueur (desserts); custard; pot au creme; and sometimes, a slice of heaven.
The origin of the cheesecake is debated. The earliest English recipes appeared in the 18th century, but it is thought that the Greeks made a similar dessert called plakous (πλακοῦς) several centuries earlier. Pliny included a recipe for plakous in his “Natural History”.

Which are the Most Iconic Cheesecake Places in USA?

Kitchenette in New York City – If you’re looking for a classic cheesecake with incredible taste and quality, try this place! You can also eat at the bar if you want to. It’s recommended to get there early, as the place becomes very busy!
Three Brothers Italian American Restaurant in Chicago – If you’re a foodie who wants to try something different and something that you’d probably never get to try again, then I suggest you give this place a go. The cheesecake is a bit pricey but absolutely delicious!
IHOP in Los Angeles – This is another place where you can eat at the bar! That’s right, I said “bar “. They serve happy hours every Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The cheesecake, however, is not one of their specials. So if you want to taste a top quality cheesecake, this is the place to be!

What’s New and Trending with “Cheesepieces”

For a while, the cheesecake movement was slowing down but it is now back with a bang! There are many places trying out different things with cheesecakes and new flavors. Some even transport you to other places like one of my favorite places ‘The New York Pie Company”, which talks about the culture of New York in every way – from their big apple pies to their cheesecakes. They are very affordable and they have seasonal desserts. They also have a very blog-worthy interior with wall art that is so adorable.
The best part about cheesecake is its versatility with different flavors and ingredients you can throw inside. From the classic, to more exotic flavors like Oreo cheesecake and Brownie batter cheesecake, there is a cheesecake for everyone! And don’t even get me started on the classic combination of peanut butter and chocolate.
So, in celebration of the recently trending dessert, here are some of the new places that I have recently discovered:
A slice of heaven with a name like “Yum Yum Yum” is a cake shop that has a delicious cheesecake and other treats. They also have a weekend long birthday celebration which is perfect for any enthusiast. One thing they are known for is their always changing flavors. They use natural ingredients and have savory items as well including pasta and soup! So, if you’re looking for a more gourmet place that also has delicious treats to go with your cheesecake, this is the place.
