Introduction: Why iPhone Shopping Sucked in 2017, and How to Avoid the Same Mistakes in 2018

It was a long year for iPhone fans around the world. While Apple mostly delivered on what it promised, many of us found themselves plagued by hours-long waits in line and telecom operators that were unprepared to meet demand. In turn, this left more than a few of us without the iPhone we had been waiting for since the launch of the X. That’s why I wanted to open up a line of communication with the readers of this blog and explain what happened, what Apple could have done better and how Apple could improve things for the upcoming iPhone launch.
The purpose of this article is not to pass judgment on Apple’s supply chain, but rather to offer some insights as to how Apple and other leading electronics companies can improve on their business practices in future years. While I can’t make all the changes that would be necessary, there are things that I think we should consider.
1. Reduce the risk of iPhone pre-orders slipping beyond launch:
Apple’s supply chain is not a secret; it’s well documented on Apple’s website. However, because of the sheer number of iPhone pre-orders, Apple was unable to accurately predict the amount of phones that would be available at launch. The result was some serious supply issues in 2017 that led to long lines and unhappy customers.

What is the Best Way To Buy an iPhone?

It was a long year for iPhone fans around the world. While Apple mostly delivered on what it promised, many of us found ourselves plagued by hours-long waits in line and telecom operators that were unprepared to meet demand. The result has been a lot of frustrated would-be iPhone owners.
Luckily for you, it’s now nearly a year later, and the dust is settling. So what’s the best way to buy an iPhone in 2010?
In 2009, there were two main ways to get an iPhone: you could claim one online, or get in line at your local Apple store. The online order queue had no waiting time but it was prone to site crashes and errors. The Apple store queue had a lot of waiting time, but it was usually a smooth process. The problem with the store queue is that you often had to camp out for hours or even days to get one, which meant that in most cases it wasn’t worth the wait.

The Best Ways to Avoid Paying More for iPhones in 2018

It was a long year for iPhone fans around the world. While Apple mostly delivered on what it promised, many of us found ourselves plagued by hours-long waits in line and telecom operators that were unprepared to meet demand. In turn, this left more than a few of us without the iPhone we had been waiting for since the launch of the X.
With the year now drawing to a close, there’s never been a better time to take stock of all that went wrong with this flagship phone, as well as what Apple can do to improve things in 2019.
1. To avoid surprises, buy your iPhone sooner than later
While it might seem that waiting for the day you can actually buy an iPhone is beneficial for future updates and enhancements, Apple has found it’s better off delivering those updates and enhancements within short periods of time. The iPhone X was among the first phones to feature a dual camera on the rear, with all others following suit in the months that followed.
2. Avoid national carriers if you can
While national carriers might have been better equipped to handle demand for Apple’s new iPhones, it’s still likely that they may have been less interested in doing so than smaller, regional operators. As such, it’s best to get your iPhone from a less well-known operator as this will almost certainly be more popular and capable of handling demand.
3. Avoid purchasing an iPhone right after release
Tim Cook said that Apple is making an effort to deliver new hardware more frequently than it has in the past and this has been evident in each of the last two years, but iPhone X buyers might have found themselves having to wait for months before their new phone arrived in their hands.
